We've Been In The Lab: Introducing ChoreoLab
Something big has been building behind the scenes at Eloquent Dance, and we're ready to talk about it.
Over the past months, we've been deep in creative development alongside the incredible team at Birmingham Open Media (BOM), and what's come out of that collaboration is something we genuinely believe will change the game for young creatives in the West Midlands and beyond.
Dance meets technology
Imagine a space where movement isn't just performed, it's captured, mapped, digitised, and owned. That's the world ChoreoLab exists in. Motion capture. Projection mapping. Artificial intelligence. Entrepreneurship. These aren't buzzwords for us; they're the tools we're putting directly into the hands of young people aged 16 to 30.
ChoreoLab is Eloquent's dance-led innovation programme, and it's built around one core belief: that dancers deserve more than just a stage. They deserve a seat at the table.
More than choreography
Most dance training teaches young people how to move. ChoreoLab teaches them how to build. Participants aren't just developing their craft; they're learning how to own it digitally, commercially, and strategically.
This is a full creative accelerator designed specifically for talented young people from underrepresented backgrounds, equipping them with the digital tools, IP knowledge, and industry connections that so many gifted dancers simply never get access to. The gap between having talent and being able to turn that talent into a sustainable income is real, and it's something ChoreoLab is designed to close.
Why this matters
So many young dancers pour everything they have into their art, and still find themselves without a clear path forward. Not because they aren't good enough, but because the creative technology sector has never made enough space for them. ChoreoLab is about changing that, with dance at the helm and innovation as the vehicle.
We're proud to be doing this work in partnership with Birmingham Open Media, and incredibly grateful to West Midlands Combined Authority, supported by Innovate UK, for backing a vision that puts Black-led arts and young creatives at the centre of the region's innovation story.

We're just getting started.
This is only the beginning. ChoreoLab is growing, evolving, and we can't wait to share more about what's been built inside that lab.
